Her bf has oral herpes from kissing his mom. She says she is going to break up with him for the fear of getting it from him. I don't believe that this is a good enough reason to though. Oral Herpes if not dangerous it is just a cold sore(I did a report in health on it). They both like each other alot. I don't agree with her decision. Can anyone help me on how to pusuade her not to break it off. She's a freshman in high school and he is a jounior in high school.

I REALLY THINK SHE NEEDS TO BREAK UP WITH HIM SHES REALLY YOUNG AND IF SHE GETS INFECTED TOO HER LIFE WILL BE DESTROYED FOR EVER, JUST LIKE HER BOYFRIEND HIS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A NORMAL LIFE. AND ITS NOT JUST A COLD SORE HERPES IS REALLY PAINFULL AND DANGEROUS SHE NEEDS TO THINK ABOUT HER FUTURE! I FEEL ORRY FOR HIM AND MAD AT HIS MOM FOR NOT PROTECTING HER SELF NOW SHE ACTUALLY HURT HER SON.

Herpes is bad stuff, yo. Even the mouth sore kind. People will stay away from them, and they can only hook up with others who have it. She's so young. She shouldn't mess up a bunch of her life just to have a boy to kiss for a little while (probably wouldn't stay together long, any way.) High School is such a small part of life. There have got to be other boys for her to date. And he needs to talk to his doctor and be smart about his herpes infection. Herpes lasts FOR EVER. Do not forget that.
(in other news:) Take your time. Be sure to trust the people you date. (Weird, some teens act too desperate.) And have a condom before if/when you're going to need it. Be prepared. THEN make your careful decision when the time comes. There are all kinds of STDs that you can't see or smell or anything. You can't be sure where this person has -you know-. And there are very common STDs that can never go away. Or if you do eventually find out, it may have already messed up a fallopian tube or something...

Cold sores are ugly, but not life threateneing. Can her boyfriend go to a doctor and get medication?
A freshman, in high school, has many future opportunities to have lot of friends and boyfriends. More than likely, she will break up with current boy friend, some day, anyway.

you need to let your friend decide for herself, all you can do is educate her about it, but if she is afraid of the disease, the only way to protect herself is by breaking it off. Did ya ever consider that he was lying about the whole kissing his mom thing!!!

There are medication they can both take that will reduce the risk of spreading it. millions of people have herpes and that shouldnt take over there lifes. He's still the same guy, and its not his fault.

Stay out of it. This is her choice not yours. She won't thank you for interfering.
