Why do we color our hair? To be different? To look younger? To get rid of the gray hair (me! me!)? It's vanity, pure and simple. Which is *fine*, don't get me wrong. (God knows how many years I've been coloring my hair to get rid of grays!)
Now... I've heard both that it's okay to color your hair while you are pregnant ... and that you should not.
When you think about it, however, when you color your hair, you are using something that is not natural. Even hair colorings that say "all natural" are made by changing "natural" chemicals around.
It's always better to be safe than sorry. If something were to happen you'd always wonder, "Was it because I used that brand of hair dye?" Don't do that to yourself. Vanity isn't worth it.
I'd play it safe... Wait to color your hair until after your baby is born.

yes, new research shows that today's dyes are safe for pregnant women. I died my hair 2 times during the last pregnancy and it was fine.
Just use a brand you've used before.

Usually the dangerous part is the fumes (you breathe those chemicals in and they cross the blood barrier into your womb), so you'll want to make sure you don't use anything that's got a really powerful odor (if it smells like ammonia, I'd stay away!)

I colored my hair when I was pregnant, and my son came out at 9lbs, 3oz, and a 9 on his first AGPAR. My Dr. told me that the chemicals do not get absorbed by your scalp, and it doesn't change the inside of your hair, it changes the outside layer. It's an old wives tale.

I heard you should wait until after a certain number of weeks before you dye your hair, but I think they have a dye that's safe for pregos...ask your hair person.

i have dyed my hair with all 3 pregnancies.i would suggest however using semi permanant dye and not applying it to the roots just to be safe.also dont go dying it constantly.i do it maybe every 3 mon.people are going to tell you its dangerous but there is no evidence that it is.my doc even said its safe!

I work in a salon, pregnant women come in all the time with no problems. I know there is some debate about it, but I know lots of women do it. Just last week a woman came in who was expecting any day so that she wouldn't have to worry about her hair for some time after her baby arrived.

UMM it should be okay.. They just say never dye your hair during the first three months because thats the most importnt time for your baby to develop. I dyed my hair with my first one but I was like 29 or 30 weeks and he turned out just fine.
