No one's noticed yet that the second computer WILL NOT BOOT UP. That makes it impossible to use USB, burn on a CD, transfer through the Internet, use an Ethernet crossover cable, etc. Unless you're defining "boot up" differently that I would.
If the computer won't boot up--that is, won't turn on (so you see anything) and/or won't run an operating system (so that it will not be recognized on a network), then I think your only option is to take the hard drive out. But it is not such a big deal, really. I'm sure there are many Tutorials online for connecting a secondary slave hardrive.
Good luck.

All of the previous answers are good suggestions but they do not take into account the amount of data you have may to transfer. Of course you didn't mention that.

You could use a USB flashdrive, but it would be slow and there are not any available that are cheap beyond 2GB. You could purchase an external USB hard disk for about $130 from
www.govconnection.com part number 6962761.

Another method is to get a USB IDE adapter. This way you only have to open one case. The adapter connects to a hard drive and you plug it into your USB port. Govconnection part number 6126042

But really it will take you five minutes to take the hard drive out from one computer and connect it as a secondary master in the other computer (unless the hard drive buses are incompatible (IDE vs. SATA)

If you want to go an Ethernet route:

If both computers have an Ethernet adapter you can use a Ethernet crossover cable.

You'll have to turn off any firewalls; unless you want to configure the options.

You'll also have to configure both adminsitrator accounts with the same password or have identical user accounts with identical passwords on each system.

You also have to configure the computers to have the same network address i.e. 192.168.100.XX and configure the subnet mask to at least 255.255.255.0

Laplink is a good tool for that. Otherwise, if the old PC has a USB port, then use a flash memory card to copy the files to.

you're able to do a parallel set up the place you reinstall the OS into yet another itemizing on an identical not undemanding force. while it comes up, back up your archives. then you certainly can keep on conserving on with the parallel set up, format the force and start up clean or,,, get rid of your old not undemanding force. set up a clean not undemanding force set up the OS on the recent force. as quickly as your device is up and stable, set the jumper on the recent force to comprehend and set the jumper on your old force to slave. Slave the old force to the recent force, boot the device and reproduction your data to the place ever you opt for. that's what somebody else is going to do while you're taking it to them and pay them. Slave your force to their force, reproduction the data, burn a CD or DVD and value you for 2 hours worth of artwork. Do it your self, it is not not undemanding and it fairly is a good purchase extra fee-effective! Now that's all based on the undeniable fact that the force works and your OS died. If the force died then you certainly have no decision yet to pay super money to recuperate the data you fairly can not stay without.
