There is no way they are going to retire the number of a person who threw a fit and left for another team, a rival team nonetheless, for more money. Vineteri may have been a good player for them but they are not going to retire the number of a kicker who didn't play his whole career with them. And the kicker position isn't one that gets largely recognized or honored.

Tigervixx, you couldn't be more wrong. Changing teams AFTER years of success doesn't do anything to rule out having your number retired. In fact, you hear about players signing one day contracts every year, and the purpose of this is to retire with the team that you had the most success with. Having your name/number hanging in the stadium, having your jersey/number retired, and entering the hall of fame as a member of that team are all part and partial to this reasoning. Vinatieri is the most recognizable, and far and away the most clutch kicker in Superbowl history. As long as he doesn't see similar success with the Colts or some other team, he will be back one day to retire as a Patriot, and no other Patriot will ever wear his number. If this does not happen, the Patriots organization are dumber than I thought.

The Pats could have this sport received by the end of the third quarter it wont come right down to a field objective and if for some extraordinary reason it does Gotskowski is now a extra perfect kicker than Vinatieri

They should retire his number. Of course, this is when he retires and signs with the Patriots for one day to end his career as a Patriots.

Doubtful. Kickers dont get alot of credit. Unless the guy personally won the superbowls with dramitic kicks they would never retire his number.
