I think yes, we need to act now. Because time is acting against us anyway. We have already lost the war. We are only realizing it now.

We have no more "responsibility" to be the "peace keepers" of the globe than are the penguins of Antartica, we do it because it's in our own national intrests, there is more profit in peace than war for society as a whole. Truman noted that waging peace is a lot harder then war, and I believe he was right. But peace doesn't convince all nations or leaders of your goodness, it only convinces some that you are weak, like being the biggest kid in teh class, sooner or later some idiot wants to prove they''re tough no matter what it takes to start a fight with you. This is exactly the provacation which plagues the USA, somehow those issues that should be directed to the UN end up on our plate. It's not our responsibility, but they will seek us out and keep at it until we get attacked, then when we respond everyone will shout "You bully!". I'm not defending Bush, any USA President must face this problem, that is the biggest issue I consider when deciding who to vote for, how they will handle these threats? Will we go running into civil wars in Mogadishu/Somalia/Bosnia/Serbia/Haiti/Rwanda/Darfur/Iraq or say to the UN "this is YOUR responsibility"?

I think as a nation who constantly forces our democratic system on other nations, I feel that we should give a better example by the officials that represent us in government. The better question is how can the republican party continue to be pompous about being the right wing conservative party and yet they hide the darkness about their fellow party officials.
As far as world peace, that will be unknown to man until the return of Christ, until then there will always be wars and rumors of war. Pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
America has instigated war through propaganda for so long, I don't know how you can say that we are peace keepers. We will continue to protect our freedom and interest and in doing so we will always be stepping on someone else's toes.

If you let evil forces overrun the world, that is NOT keeping the peace.
Wise people know that war is not to be sought for the sake of power, nor is it to be avoided in the face of evil for the sake of avoiding trouble. What Hitler did in the 1930's should have shut up for all time the liberals who insist on "being nice" to evil in hopes of "keeping the peace"
