The monitor is not gettting a signal from the computer. Sounds like a poor connection. I would disconnect and reconnect the cables and make sure they are screwed in at both ends. Thenk, turn off power to both the computer and monitor. Open the box, verify the video card is firmly seated, screwed down, and not fried. Close everything back up, restart and everything should work again.

Well I would need a little more info to be of any real help. In a situation like this there's probably one of two things wrong with it.
It could be broken or the video driver is messed up - in that case - I can't help. More than likely your computer isn't recognizing it (which means it's not sending a video signal to it). Without more info the best thing I can tell you to do is to turn off both your computer and your monitor - recheck the video cable to make sure it is COMPLETELY seated in the computer (use the screws to tighten it up) then turn on your monitor - then turn on your computer.

GOOD LUCK

p.s. - is the computer a laptop and the monitor external to the laptop ???

Sounds like the monitor IS on. The problem is that it is not receiving any input. If the light is orange, this confirms that it is not getting a signal from the computer. Double check the connection between the monitor and the computer. Ensure that the computer is on.

There would be no light if the monitor was not on.

Try restarting the computer. Some computers are difficult to wake from Sleep mode.
