Difficult to say. It's against the law, but then both he and the school are probably happier if he leaves. The important thing is that he gets employment with training when he reaches school leaving age. Meanwhile, might the headteacher consider putting your son on the Alternative Curriculum or releasing him to an FE college to do Skills Training in, for example, construction trades. The headteacher and the education deparment have the power to authorise this. If I were you, I would go to the careers centre in your area which, if you live in England will be called 'Connexions' and in Wales it's 'Careers Wales.' They will certainly be able to advise you.

Hi,
My sister left school at 15 and she was put in to a college for a year, where she gained higher level N.V.Q's in English, Maths and Science. When she turned 16, she continued at the same college to do her G.C.S.E's. Apart from being a few months behind, we feel that this has actually done her more good than harm. Don't be put off by people having a go at you, it is a simple fact that some people get on at school others don't. I went straight from school, to college, gap year and uni, but my sister is just taking a different route.

If your child does not like school take him/her out, but speak to your LEA about the possible options in your area.

Good Luck!!!!

what kind of future do u expect your child to have with no education, if u took responsibility and better control of your child then u would not be in this position.

why did your child get excluded in the first place? and what punishment did your child face to show that this is not acceptable

Unless your child is extraordinarily gifted in some area you will be sentencing him/her to a life of menial labor and low income. Unless it's absolutely necessary, don't do it. Education is the easy way to get ahead in life.

Wouldn't that be breaking the law? You or whoever the parent is could get in serious trouble. Talk to your LEA if you want more infomation.
