because of short-term memory. our brains are always obsering and picking up on things and details whether we are aware of it or not. Our short-term memory will hold 7, plus or minus 2 (so 5 or 9), things. then we cn put those things into our long-term memory and retreve them whenever they or needed or we can discard and forget them.

The last thing you see is the first thing you remember :P

E.g. If you watch a movie, you'll remember the ending more clearly than the beginning because less time has passed since you saw the ending. More time has passed since you saw the beginning (unless you watched the movie backwards).

The experience of recalling what you last saw is biological than psychological.
A term "persistence of vision" is commonly associated with this experience
(Activity:) Look look at a bright light for a while and shut your eyes for some seconds.

because of memory decay--we always lose the first memory of an event and finally the last. of course, with long-term memory, this doesn't hold, but only for memory stored in short-term
