Dogs, cats, certain birds, certain pigs, etc. have been bred and domesticated for thousands of years now. Why would we want to 'domesticate' the other animals of the wild at this point? Most animals were domesticated by humans at first for practical purposes...i.e. - dogs as hunters and protectors and trackers, cats to keep down the rodent population, pigs, sheep, cows for food, oxen, horses, donkeys, mules for pulling or packing loads, etc. Of what "practical" use are monkeys, or bears, or ???

We have already domesticated the animals that are small and relatively easy to breed - you'll never be able to domesticate something like an elephant which has a huge gestation and is enoromous

I doubt it because exotic animals are expensive and they're NOT for show. They don't belong in the common household, they belong in their natural habitat.

By importing exotic animals on a whim, you could mess up the entire ecosystem.

No other animal could take the place of a dog.

I'm against it. They are not meant to be pets, put in a cage for their lives. They are meant to roam free and unbothered by people. Leave them be
