Mark S seems to know a lot about it but he is missing the point. what about lipoedema? this is cellulite with pain (and bruising) - a bilateral, symmetrical condition that can affect women of any size. You can be very slim on top and yet still have lipoedema on your bottom/thighs. there are hundreds of thousands of women out there with lipoedema who don't know they have it and are made to feel guilty about it - this is not something that can be improved by diet.
hopefully you just have dimpled skin...and not lipoedema.

From what I've looked up, it seems that none of the oral medicines or creams used to treat cellulite have gone through proper scientific journals, so we can assume that they don't actually work. As everybody says, diet and exercise should help the problem, and this comes highly recommended by me. Of course, it's always good to eat healthy and to exercise. Doing so will not only help with your cellulite, as eating healthy and exercising should also make you feel better about life in general. However, as far as treating cellulite goes, it seems like exercise and a good diet will only go so far. The medicinal cures for cellulite don't work, but there are some mechanical techniques that have been shown to help. One of them is lymphatic draining massages, which seems to be a very useful technique. The technique goes something like this: you lay on your back and expose the areas of your body with cellulite. Then, someone slaps the areas with cellulite with their open palms, while occasionally breaking and rubbing the skin in a circular motion. The total amount of time spent slapping the skin in a session should be about 2 minutes. You can have this done professionally, but it seems so easy and would probably be unnecessarily costly to pay for it, so perhaps you can just get a friend or family member to do it? Usually it will take a few sessions before you notice the difference, but it should be very effective if done enough times! Probably there is more information you can find online if you want more specific information (such as how often this is usually administered). What should happen, is the massage will stimulate fluid in those areas to be drawn into the capillaries. Thus, the appearances of cellulite will go away. This won't cure the problem forever, as it will eventually come back, but if you do this type of massage relatively regularly you should be set completely. Hopefully this is helpful!

Cellulite dimpling is genetic, but it can be much more obvious because of causes such as bad eating habits, a sedentary lifestyle, not drinking enough water, hormones, and elevated excess fat. The bumps are there because of fat cells pushing against the vertical connective tissue.
Cellulite ointments, supplements, as well as other treatments are not very good at removing lumpy skin from cellulite. The most effective tactic is to eat healthy foods by consuming plenty of vegetables and fruit, and utilizing a regular exercise routine that incorporates both cardio exercise and strength training.

I found a very good resource on how to get rid of cellulite http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=539
Anyways.... these are some basic tips that you can follow:
Drinking water can help to decrease cellulite, however not for the reason that you typically may listen. Water is useful for the skin, and can help improving your elasticity and make your skin look tighter and more youthful. This makes you look younger and can help tighten the skin on thighs and butt. Many "specialists" say that running, biking, and cardio are great things you can do to reduce cellulite. While this is somewhat good, its surely not the quickest or best approach to do it. I think that targeted resistance training can lead to fastest results. it also a more effective way of burning the fat fast, contrary to what people think. Check the program I suggested and you will start seeing results very quickly.

I am so busy with my 5 kids (all under 8 years old!) and I hate exercising and dieting, life's too short! So I thought the only option for getting rid of my ugly cellulite was to book in with a set of weekly medical roller treatments. Job done.
However, they cost me a monstrous $3000 and, you guessed it, did absolutely nothing. I couldn't believe it. It left me thoroughly depressed.
I saw this info on the web and I gave it a go, what did I have to lose now! And, my god this is genius. Quick and easy. I feel so wonderful in my new, smooth, renewed figure! I am a yummy mummy now!

Absolutely. It won't happen overnight, but it's definitely the best way and will have longer-term results than expensive creams etc. Having a massage (preferably a lymph drainage massage) will also help. Massage and exercise both help to improve circulation which is what will, ultimately, get rid of the cellulite. Drink plenty of water too to flush out any toxins. You'll feel fabulous!

To help get rid of cellulite, and tone your butt, you can follow these simple tips:
Drink Water - Drinking water can help to reduce cellulite, but not for the reason that you normally hear. Water does not flush "toxins" out of your cellulite, or anything else. Water is good for the skin, and can help improve elasticity and make your skin look tighter and younger. This not only makes you look younger, but can help tighten the skin on the thighs and butt.
Exercise - Many so-called "experts" claim that running, biking, and cardio are good ways to get rid of cellulite. While this is partially true, its certainly not the fastest or most effective way to do it. Targeted resistance training can deliver much faster and more noticeable results. It's also more effective at burning fat than doing cardio, contrary to popular belief.
