Commercial pet food contains ROADKILL, EUTHANIZED SHELTER ANIMALS(collars and all), DEAD ZOO ANIMALS, RANCID MEAT from supermarkets, and ROTTING VEGETABLES?
I did not believe this could be true until I took a closer look at what everybody is saying.

To all who disbelieve...If you would learn to interpret the labels of your pets food you would see it is true. MANY studies have been done about this and they have all found the same thing. Pet food companies are not regulated like they should be. THERE ARE PLENTY MORE SITES I COULD SHOW YOU BUT I WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME IF YOU ARE TOO IGNORANT TO SEE THE TRUTH. YOUR PETS WILL SUFFER.

It is easy to make your own dogs food. The basics for any recipe are
60% meat and bone meal
40% other consisting of
60-70% veggies
20-30% grains/starch
5-15% organ meat
and egg 2-3x's a week

I heard a story from a friend who made a delivery to Valley Protein. He saw a gray stump sticking up from behind a wall, so he went over to see what it was. Then he asked, "Have you ever wondered what the zoo does with an elephant when it dies? Alpo pure beef!" He was laughing, but what are you supposed to do with these things? A local artist wanted the skull and had made previous arrangements with them; they would give it to him if he also took the hide. Cattle drop dead in fields and are picked up daily. Cows that get too old to produce milk don't exactly make tender steak. If these practices need to be changed, it's only minimally. As someone else noted, it's recycling.
I might have been more interested in this issue if it had been stated in a less hysterical manner.

Pet food is NOT made from road kill. Do you honestly think companies pay people to drive up and down the highway looking for dead animals?
Give your head a shake.
As another post said, don't believe it just because someone put it on a web site. Use your common sense.

They do not use roadkill to make your pets food. They do use some disgusting things from other animals, but not roadkill. The heaviest ingredient, besides water, in animal foods is by-products. 50% of the carcasses used for human meat, are considered waste product to us. So they use that 50%, such as the head, feet, viscera, tongues, udders, pig snouts, and many other unappetizing parts. Which sounds gross to us, but you have to remember that dogs and cats are carnivores by nature and those are the types of things they would naturally eat to keep themselves healthy.

It's on the first season, I believe. Google "That's so Raven first season" and look for the episode.

Just because something is written on a website doesn't make it true.
