Possibly there really is no "Mainstream". Many differing views and ideologies perhaps. And I don't remember that statement in particular. Various attacks, name-calling and slurs have been thrown about like so much food at a college cafeteria food fight, it's hard to keep track. Besides, it is the same as the food thrown, because when it's all said and done, it ends up going in the garbage.

I am a liberal my friend, of the true blue bleeding heart variety, so please don't take what I am about to say wrong. I have been hearing the out of step bit for years now. I have also heard the Administration and many other Republicans and conservatives preaching divisiveness with labeling, name calling and a judgemental attitude.
As liberal we are at a crossroads here. We can take the low road and throw the failures of the current administrations policies and the attitudes of the neo cons back in their faces if we so choose. Or, we can take the high road. We can eschew the practices of divisiveness, refuse to call names, label people or place judgements. If we do the former we will be equally unsuccessful in moving our nation forward. If we take the latter course we will have the opportunity to move our nation into a time of regeneration. This will only happen if we strive to bring people together, and work together. Lincoln's great words "a house divided against itself cannot stand" ring as true today as they did when he spoke them.

No!! The people out of step are the people with their OWN AGENDA!! Also, the people that want very left or right leaning agenda. Any ISM, whether liberalism, conservatism, naziism, feminism etc., is not good. Think for yourself and Act for yourself!!

"Now"? Republicans have never cared about anything but economic bullies; they don't believe in anything else in their agenda, which is just a sales pitch to sucker in the mainstream.
For the most drastic example of their fraud, one that is a matter of life and death, they are girly men who weaseled out of fighting their war in Vietnam, so how can they support the troops, who they really think are losers who can't the jobs they could?

Its the congressmen in washington who keep all of us "out of step" so that we will not pay any attention to what is really going on. They steal our tax dollars (by calling it mis-appropriation of federal funds) and spend the money on themselves and their friends making themselves and their friends richer. The idea here is to keep the american public arguing and fighting over petty issues so that we do not pay any attention to what is really going on behind closed doors.
