Right now I'm reading "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac, cos I've heard a lot about it with the uncensored version coming out next year and all in conjunction with its first release in 1957.

I've recently read The Color Purple by Alice Walker, which is a VERY good book. I'm reading "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkein right now...at first I was reluctant, because I just hate all the hype I've seen about The Lord of the Rings (this is the prequel to it), but I thought I'd give it a shot. So far it's not that bad. I'm not really that interested in the story, but Tolkein seems like a very witty and talented writer.

I'm reading The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People for a college workshop and I really like it. It's relevant to almost everything one goes through in life.

the lady detective books by Alexander McCall Smith. Set in Botswana (a small country in Africa), they follow Mma Ramostwa (the lady detective) on her cases in and around Gaborone, the capital city. McCall Smith lived in Botswana for a while, and , as I come form Botswana myself, i can say he's done quite a good job. oh, and by the way, 'Mma' means 'Mrs.', in Tswana.
