NO. In 1964 the world was lost and confused. JFK had just been shot and the world was dealing with the Cold War and Vietnam. The Beatles were a way to escape from it all. They started out as what some people thought was a fad but proved themselves until 1970. As they evolved our culture followed. When John Lennon cried for peace so did the people of his generation, when George got into eastern philosophies so did many other people. They were the voice of a generation and their popularity and revolutionary styles could never be matched again.

it would be very difficult in this day and age for another band to have the same level of impact on our society...though there are a lot of similarities between now and then that may help...When the Beatles came on the scene in the 60's our country was in a depressed state due to the pending war in Vietnam, and the recent assassination of JFK...Their music was uplifting but not shallow, and suddenly everyone in the US was on the Beatles bandwagon...Right now our country is in a similar state of mind , but the problem is that today there are too many choices that people have for a musical act to impact us that way...in 1963 there were 3 chanels to choose from, now there are 350, and the internet, and dvds, and so forth...

I don't think that there will ever be another band that had the impact that the Beatles or Elvis had.

Never, because in today's world it is almost impossible to stay popular for 5 days in Hollywood, let alone stay in a band for 5 seconds.
