I want to learn how to work with Adobe Photoshop and would like to create my own website, document my portfolio and create disks to submit to galleries.

At that level ... most any laptop would serve your needs.

I'd lean towards a Mac if I were you, most artists use macs.

I've taught Photoshop in my college for many years now and am starting to looking into gimp at www.gimp.com. It is much like photoshop yet, it's free. It's an open source piece of software.

For Laptop:
Powerbook G5 Intel processors
Try the one with 80 GB Memory
and have at LEAST 1 GB RAM for graphics.

With that being said, i have to say it's EXPENSIVE..
yes... can't really get away from it...
Lean toward Apple than PCs.

Definitely look at Mac!!! I do graphic design and it's the best... so much easier to use than a PC, and the quality of work you'll be able to do with it is 10x better!!!

iMac . . . hands down . . . the screen quality is tons better.
