For most people who havent had problems with their bt phone or internet, they dont generally have any bad comaplaints but once something goes wrong its a nightmare! Ive been with BT since march. The first time my phone and internet went dead was 6 weeks and later it took 9 hours of phone calls and eventually demanding one of the head guys in London of BT to send an engineer ASAP! I got no apology and spent 14 days off line and no phone! Anyway my phone went dead again on the 25th Nov. I have only just today had it set working again! What really got to me was i went online to the BT website and tried to find a phone number to actually speak to someone (my internet was working surprisingly!). Now i challenge you to find a phone number on their website! Its amazing.. a communications company that has no phone number!! It took 35 mins and i eventually found a number in London! Ridiculous! Anyway whats your BT story that you feel like venting like me!

I agree with changing company but problem is is that BT still own all the installations etc so regardless who i go with as a provider, if there is a problem in the exchange its down to BT! Cos remember whoever your with you still pay a line rental to BT as BT has a monopoly. Some areas are being changed but the vast majority is still BT owned! I told BT this and I said its better to keep your enemies close, if you know what i mean! Funny thing is, is that they agreed with me!!

Well, when I got my computer I decided to get my Broadband from BT. My telephone is through the Post Office as their line rental and calls are cheaper than BT.
I phoned Bt up and said I would like to sign up to their Broadband. They said we can't find your number listed, so said I was with the Post Office. They said that I would need to get permission from the Post Office to use the line for Broadband. Called Post Office, they didn't have a clue what I was on about. So phoned Bt back who were still insistant they couldn't give me Broadband as I did not have my home phone with them, they needed permission from PO. Finally managed to contact someone higher at Bt who told me of course I could have Broadband from them anyone could, the Post Office rents my line from them, so it's nothing to do with them.
Loads of time wasted speaking to people probably in a call centre the other side of the world who know nothing!!!

Haha sounds familiar, we had lightning hit our phone line and my dad phoned BT to see if they could fix the line - by the time he ot past all the automated crap and spoke to a real person...he was really annoyed.
Then they asked him for security questions and he got even more annoyed! He wanted the line sorted not bill info.
Now he is thinking about changing to the CO-OP who do a landline service as well as the bill!! But the line still isn't fixed yet. Hehehe

I too know what you mean. Worked for BT for ages, it was only when I was fielding calls from people trying to get back to BT that I began to realise how even crappier the other suppliers were!
Mind you, in those days the call centres were in the UK and most operators could communicate in English . . .

Mine's been OK but what really pigs me off about BT is when I did have a problem which was only a minor one it took ages for the guy to understand me as he was in a call centre in India. Sorted it out using remote access in the end though so the only bad thing was the language barrier and I guess it was as bad for him as it was for me.

I hate them too!
The call center operators are s**t and give you bad information. I spent over 2 hours on the phone once and it is not a free phone number!!
My years contract ends soon so will be changing.

I like BT, but I appreciate your feelings. However, do NOT change to NTL. They are the worst ******* company on the face of the Earth. They are impossible to contact. They are vile. I hope they go bankrupt.
