A cold shower cannot sober a person up. The only thing that sobers someone up is time because you have to wait for your liver to process the alcohol. A cold shower will not speed up the process.

Yeah, they work alright if your goal is to become cold. If you are talking about curbing that sexual appetite of yours then no. Mastubation seems to work though.
