It's best to ask your local pet store if there's any sort of medication that can help ease the stress on your fish. Unfortunately, fish that get these tumors don't live that long after.

Yes, it is possible for fish to get a malignant tumor. Any fish, not just goldfish.
In fact, Bubba, a famous grouper at the Chicago aquarium recently died. He had cancer. He was treated for it with chemotherapy and overcame the initial bout, but later did die.

Yes just most people are not going to pay vet care for a fish. I have a goldfish now with a lump on his gill.

yes it can get cancer, i saw it before online... it didnt look too good because this koi had a giant tumor near its table... it was probably about to die.

Yes! I saw a bunch at the pet store that had it around there eyes. There eyes were all inflamed like bubbles!
