My Betta fish lost part of his tail. Will it grow back? Also, what can I do to keep him healthy so he doesn't get infection or this continues? I don't know what happened, it could be fin rot, I'm not certain. I put stress coat in there, and I'm going to continue to do what I can. I want to clean his tank, since it's getting due for that, but I hope it doesn't hurt him.

I've noticed some comments and questions about his living status...
He lives alone in a 2.5 gallon tank, it has a water filter to keep it moving and a light, there are no fake plants in the tank. He had real ones but they began to die so I took them out.
Thanks.

Yes, it will grow back eventually, but it may not be perfectly shaped or coloured.
What is your betta in now? Most cases of finrot and various other betta diseases are due to improper care. People put their bettas in a 1 gallon bowl with no heater, no filter, and expect them to thrive because the petstore told them it was okay, and then wonder why their betta got finrot or dropsy.
A good medication to use it Maracyn-2.
The best thing you can do for him, even better than medicating, is to give him a proper tank. At least 5 gallons, with a real filter (AZOO palm filter is great) and a heater. Without a cycled tank and filter, your suffers from ammonia poisoning, from the toxic ammonia he produces himeslf. And in the wild, bettas live in 80F water! In captivity in a bowl ,even if the room is 80F, the water is only 65-72F. This leads to lowered immune system and lethargy.
If you CAN'T put him in a proper tank, please do DAILY water changes. You can use a clean turkey baster, suck out half the water of the tank, and replace it with fresh dechlorinated water. This will keep ammonia and nitrite levels to a minimum.

when you consider which you in basic terms have been given them, i'm assuming they're youthful. So his fins might desire to strengthen back extra suitable and stonger then previously. i bought a male green cambodian halfmoon betta and he had ripped fins once I have been given him. He barley had a tail! yet I had to purchase him because of fact even without tail he replaced into so somewhat! yet that replaced right into some months in the past. Now his tail is becoming back very right. It isnt growed back each and each of how yet, he nevertheless has a sprint a thank you to bypass, yet whilst mines tail is becoming back, ur bettas will too.

ok first of all Betta's dont have to live alone you just cant put 2 males togehter there are some fish that are compatible with battas mine is in a tank with mollys and platties and is doing fine and second of all the fish can live with out air bubbles but its better for them to be in a tank with a filter and air yes with the right treatment your betta's tail will grow back but i suggest you do some resarch before you start treating him with just anything good luck bellow i will add a sight for fin rot for bettas

I'm going through this problem right now. Best thing to do is to change his water. Then get some medication that works specifically for tail rot. It won't look like it's healing, so you just have to give it a couple of days.

it will grow back, you need to keep putting fin rot treatment in the tank til it grows back. I have fish that nip each others tails off and they grow back but it may take some time. But you have to put fin rot treatment in or he may die.

It should grow back!
Continue the normal routine so nothing causes him stress and he needs his tank cleaned so no bacteria gets to him!
