my 256mb iriver mp3 seems to have maxed out at 37 songs. I am planning to buy 1 gb to replace it. I only use it for music, so can I assume it will hold about 150 songs; I have a lot of classical stuff which run 7 or 8 minutes. I can get a Creative Zen nano plus for about $70, which is about all I care to spend.Or is there a better choice?

Apple's iPod shuffle runs around $80 and it holds about 240 songs. the only downside is that it has no screen to view the songs playing.

you said you listen to classical, those songs run longer than your average song, so you will be able to store less than the advertised number of songs since the approximate storage capacity is based on the average mp3 file at 3-4 mb. classical music files are often double or triple that size, so just do the math.

SanDisk Sansa m240 1Gb MP3 Player is a good choice, after 1GB the price steeply rises. Best off waiting till the prices drop a bit, which they will. If you can find a cheap sony, it may last longer and be og higher quality.
