I think it influence Greek and Roman history and culture. It definately influenced sea travel as the ships used the stars at night to travel by. Same can be said by land, but land can also be travelled using landmarks while at sea, when there's no land around, it's much easier to get lost and die. In those times anyway. Greek, I believe, were the ones who came up with the asttrological signs we use today, Leo, Capricorn and the whole lot of twelve, which affected out culture as it grew.

But Yahoo Answers hardly counts as an acadmic source which is needed for research essays *sighs and wishes it did*

not much disasters are on going irregardless of charting,I would look up the influence in the book of Job in the old testament and write upon his discoveries, hope this helps.
