Not only is it okay, it's practical. If you are like me, you have tons of newborn clothes and you probably don't feel like doing 4 or 5 loads of wash, so you go to a laundromat and throw them all into triple loading washing machines and get them all washed at once.

Washing Newborn Clothes

It's a good idea to wash all baby clothes/sheets/etc. in baby friendly detergent- many moms use Dreft or Ivory Snow- I use Tide Free and Clear, it works the same, it's a little cheaper, and we can wash all of our clothes in it. I make it a point to wash everything first (I leave the tags on until clothes been washed), you don't want to expose your baby to something that you could easily avoid. My daughter is 6 months old and we will continue washing things before wear for the first year or 2 and after that, I might change my mind about it :)

Yes it is. The laundry soap will take care of it. People didn't own washers and dryers for years and their kids are fine. My mom raised 5 kids and she didn't own a washer/dryer until I was in high school. As long as the laundromat you use is clean then I wouldn't worry about it.

I've always washed my daughters clothes at the laundromat. If you're concerned, use a gentle detergent and use a little more than usual and wash them with hot water. I also used my own basket instead of the carts that they have there because they don't really sanatize them and kids play in them with all of their germs and I didn't want them to get on my daughters clean clothes. I also do the same with my clothes though too.

I just used Tide to wash my daughters clothes also and it never bothered her... I only suggest the gentle detergent because it seems to be a concern to you.

It isn't going to cause a problem. And don't be fooled into paying $20 a bottle for Dreft. Most babies don't have a problem with regular detergent. You can buy All Free & Clear (has no dyes or fragrances) and wash all of your clothes together to save money. Even Dreft has dyes and fragrance so I think the All is better - and it only costs $3.50 for a bottle at the dollar store!

Of course it is-especially when your options are limited, but it is best to use that detergent that is specially made for infant clothing- Dreft or All Free and Clear. Those don't have all the fragrances and additives that some detergents have and are good for a baby's sensitive skin. My pediatrician reccomended the stuff and while it's higher priced than other stuff, it's worth it to have a happy baby with no rashes... :-)

I think it is fine. If your options are limited you don't have much of a choice unless you want to wash them by hand. Just use laundry detergent that is recommended for infant clothing. I use Dreft to wash my 6 month old clothes.

Good Luck!!

yes it's ok it's not going to hurt anything - how else would you wash the clothes? Unless you really want to spend all day long washing them by hand like they did way back when in the 1600's or more....
