If you happen to be near PA: Penn State has a well-established program, but if you're looking for a smaller school, Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh may be your answer.

I graduated from Univ. of Pittsburgh in 2001 before their program got off the ground. I can't comment on how good it is, only that it exists. A few profs in the math dept. though are seriously some of the smartest people (in any discipline) you may ever meet.

Best of luck to you, and may I also recommend getting into the insurance industry rather than retirement. I'm on the pension side, and the future looks pretty bleak with respect to DB plans.

I went to the University of Illinois for Actuarial Science.

It was a sweet program, holds a lot of stock with the big companies in Chicago, I've also heard lots of good things about Michigan's program as well as Wisconsin.

I disagree with the one guy who talked about not getting into pension. If you get into pension make sure it's on the DC side, like me, and you'll have a good time.
