Personally, I hate it. I feel as though I have to do something because... well, its a bit sad isn't it to just stay in and go to bed! It costs at least double the amount it normally does if you do decide to go out and there’s no chance of getting a taxi home. Parties are just boring and what would actually like to do is just stay at home with a bottle of wine and fall asleep before midnight!

Totally agree!!! Hate it , would much rather stay home get pissed and pass out. I hate how everyone goes out in the freezing cold in miniscule clothes , kissing every guy that comes within distance then waits about 4 hours for a taxi ( which you pay way too much money for!!! ) and then the next day go on about what a great night they had!!! Maybe i'm just getting old but I find the whole thing grossly overrated.

Well I am in the minority here as I usally have a great time on New Years Eve, a big group of us get together book tickets somewhere with a bit of fun (Fancy Dress or Tux). have a few drinks bit of dance and crack open the champagne for midnight. Also holidaying over this period in a hot country takes all the hassle out off the night, where a slowler pace and warmer temps makes for a more pleasent night.

I ignore it. I do what you would like to do; stay home in my comfortable PJ's with a nice snack (something a little bit lush and festive) and some nice wine and my sweetie. We sit up till after midnight because round here the fireworks are insane--have to wait till they're done to get any sleep!
Then we toast each other and usually open a special "New Year" present saved for the occasion, just a small thing. (Usually in my case my sweetie gives me earrings).
Then we look at each other and say, "Well, do YOU feel any different?" and giggle. Sometimes my sweetie listens to the TV celebrations but usually we just sit and chat.

Here, here, sister! I've had more rotten things happen to me on New Year's Eve than I care to remember. I'm all for wishing my friends a great time, but I'll stay home and go to bed.

For me it's either here nor there. I usually don't celebrate it, because growing up I would watch everyone get smashed and act like idiots. I think that bringing in the New Year drunk off your @ss is just a sad.

i dislike new year's eve and day. they are both times when i feel like i must have a good time. i'm not the kind of person who can turn on the having a good time button. i want to create my own good time, when im ready and willing.
