Depends on your definition of an alien.

Certainly the possibility for aliens exists. If the bacteria or cosmic dust that started life on Earth was deposited by a passing comet or asteroid, couldn't the same thing happen on other planets in this universe? Any alien life would be different from us because of the chemicals available on that planet at the time it was mixed with space dust or a comets deposit and many other environmental things that affect life growing activities.

Depends on what you mean by aliens, I personally believe that there might be another life form out of The Earth, I mean not exactly the "type of aliens" you think they look like but like I don't know.... animals that talk or mutated life forms and stuff like that but you believe what YOU think is true not other people's opinions

I certainly hope there are aliens out there. Otherwise that's a lot of wasted space, not to mention that Earth's ego is already large enough. Why should we lay claim that this is the only populated planet out there? We once thought the world was flat, but it's not. Then we thought we were the center of the universe, but we're not. Who can possibly say Earth is the only populated planet?

You mean the kind from another planet? Probably . Google "Drake equation" to get an estimate of how many planets in the galaxy support life.

Have they come to visit us here? Probably not. The distances are incredibly long, the power requirements immense, and the problems to do so formidible. It will take humans months to travel just to Mars, and that's one planet away. It would take most of a hundred years to go to the next star system. If you and your family left when you were 30, your great grandchildren would arrive there. Assuming that they didn't die on the way, of course.

Does this mean "There are aliens, so are they real" or does it mean "Are there any aliens?"

I have no clue, but probably not. At least, if there are, our country is spending way too much to find out...

By asking 'are aliens' you are assuming that they have existence and that 'realness' is an additional quality. Do aliens exist? Perhaps.

believe there is intelligent life elsewhere as we would need a strong ego indeed to think that of all the planets and stars out there earth would be the only one with intelligent ( ? ) life forms. earth may be the insane asylum for the universe.
