2. American Graffitti: plays Curt, best friend to Ron Howard. Curt ends up moving to Canada to become a writer.

In Stand by Me he played the narrator of the movie (Wil Wheaton's charater grown up).
In The Goodbye Girl he played Elliot Garfield, romantic roomate of Paula and her daughter Lucy.
I adore Richard Dreyfuss!
Other great movies of his are Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind and Mr Holland's Opus.
