I took a Black Literature class in high school. These were some of the authors we studied: Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks, Claude McKay, Leopold Sedar Senghor, Ralph Ellison and Margaret Walker. I know these aren't all the authors, but maybe it will help you get started.
