Bob Paisley and Bill Shankley, who cant agree with that? I also think Houlier did do a good job though. He's only downfall is he's too defence minded thats the reason we didnt win the premiership. I would like to comment a bit on Houlier because he had tried to build a Liverpool team that was failing miserably after it got destroyed in the early 90's. Therefore many Liverpool supporters will Houlier messed everything up by buying stupid players, but If you look at Liverpools team that won the CL you tell me, how many were Rafa signings... Hyppia, Riise, Traore, Kewell, Hamman, Smicer, those players were on the field on the road to Istanbul...

Mine is Matthias Sammer of Borussia Dortmund. HE coached our side to the Bundesliga Title in 2002 and we reached the Uefa Cup final that same year.
But what makes him so special is that he played for Dortmund a few years before. He was the European Player of the Year in 1996 and helped Dortmund win the Champions League and Super Cup that year. HE had a career ending injury which led him to be a successful coach at Dortmund.

Bo Schembechler. Made Michigan a powerhouse in college football. Before him, Michigan was nothing. Took "tradition" seriously and earned the respect of players, coaches, and opponents.
Bo hands down. GO BLUE.

i agree with you on your team paisley did a fantastic job for you his continuation was fantastic but shanks brought you out the old second division and left a great side sitting at the pinnicle of english football?? i have to ask if paisley or any one else could of done what shanks did and thats not a knock at paisley cos he improved what shanks built.
