Hmmm... This depends on the definition of chubby. I consider myself chubby or at least thick and I tear up the mountains on my snowboard... Its not so much your weight as it is your level of fitness... Being over weight or chubby doesn't mean you're not fit.

Snowboarding for the beginner, who is not prepared physically, can be very difficult and discouraging. OK... So what exactly do I mean by physically prepared?

If you don't excercise regularly, you will realize this the day after your first snowboarding trip. The sport will certainly take a toll on your legs, knees in general, lower back, upper back and pretty much anything you land on as the result of a crash and burn. You will certainly use muscles you never knew you had.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from the sport as it is an amazing and exhilerating experience. Do prepare and you will enjoy the sport much more regardless of the learning curve.

I don't think your weight has much to do with it. It's more of whether or not you have a good center of balance. Or if you have good balance in general. My boyfriend who was 6 ft, 250 pounds (he had the "chubbiness") goes snowboarding and it's his favourite sport.

It may be a little difficult at first if your body isn't used to it, but it will only get easier as your body adjusts. If anything, snowboarding is a good workout. Don't let your weight stop you from going snowboarding because my bf is the biggest klutz, chubby, AND he can STILL snowboard with no problem!

Have fun! =)

No it is not any harder for someone "chubby" than it is for anyone else who is a first timer. You just need a board that works for your weight. The big problem that i see is that if you rent from a resort, they dont set you up right. i often go back into the rental shop and tell them the size board that i suggest the individual should be riding that is having problems.

I am an average weight guy and love to ski. I have been skiing my whole life so I thought snowboarding would be no problem. I was wrong. It was hard. I see people of all sizes out there, so it just depends if you can figure it out. It will definately be a workout.

A lot easier than swimming. Chubby chics aren't buoyant; they just sink to the bottom.

PS: My answer was not meant to be intelligent by any means. It's called sarcasm!
