Sure!
Seawater is undrinkable becuase of its high salt concentration. Therefore, "purification" deals with salt removal, or desalinization.
This can be accomplished in several ways. One is by distillation, where the water is boiled and the salt-free water vapor collected and condensed into pure water, leaving the salt behind in the boiling vessel. Another is by reverse osmosis: using a semi-permeable membrane that allows water to cross but not salt molecules.

To make sea water fit for drinking you need to remove the salt from it. There are a couple ways to do this.
reverse osmosis - This invloves using pressure to force the water through a selectively permeable membrain (a filter that takes out the salt). This is often used on ocean cruising boats but requires enough power input to pressure the water.
evaporation - If you evaporate the sea water and collect the condensation you will be left with drinkable water. This is because water will evaporate but the salt will not. Solar distillers are devices that do this by using the sun as the only energy source. Many survival kits in life rafts contain at least one of these in case you are stranded at sea.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Yes. In desalination plants, reverse osmosis is the key principle.
The goal is to find the perfect membrane.
