If you could, would you?

Nope. The sun is giant ball of burning gas. The moon is essentially a frozen rock. The surface of the sun is constantly swirling and shifting and erupting (picture a giant bonfire). The surface of the moon is stationary until moved by another force--like a foot (foot prints from the astronauts) or an asteroid (all the pock marks on the surface).

what are you talking about? ;-)

first we CAN look at the sun, I mean we do it all the time, using instruments with suitable filters

the surface is not really a surface since the sun is a ball of gas. At this "surface" you have huge storms and explosions of gas, sending plumes often to altitudes higher than the Earth's diameter!

that's quite different from the Moon, which has a solid, rocky, cold, stable surface.

No. The sun is a huge ball of burning gas which spews out cosmic rays and solar flares. It is a source of atomic fusion. The moon is a huge chunk of reflective rock which does nothing in that department.

If you could look at the sun, you would see a seething, boiling surface with fiery masses being thrown into space and returning to the sun's surfave. I think it would be frightening.

No. The sun is on fire. The moon is cold and frozen.

The sun is liquid and gases, the moon is solid.
