That might mean Limewire can't get in trouble but that doesn't indemnify you. You are in America, you have to abide by their laws. Downloading something, probably won't get you in any trouble. You share your copyrighted material (uploading) you could get caught. The RIAA will likely want to settle out of court with you for about $3000. If you take it to court and lose, you'll probably be out a lot more than that.

Good luck trying that in court John G. If you know they've found you out, they'd already have gathered the evidence they needed. Do you really have a powerful enough magnet around that you can zap your harddrive with before they get it out of there? If you uploaded the song un-beknownst to you that it was the RIAA or the police and they have your IP address recorded, they already have evidence that you at one time possessed copyrighted material and distributed it to others without expressed permission from the copyright owner.

You're right, thousands of people do it all the time every day and chances are, you won't get caught. It's just like speeding on the highway. But it's a little more than a speeding ticket you'll get if you get caught with this! Just don't upload, download only and you'll be okay! Or move to Canada where it's legal to upload and download ;-)

Limewire isn't illegal, but stealing music is. The feds constantly put traps on applications like limewire. If you download one of their "shared" songs it will install an application on your machine that searches the rest of your harddrive for stolen software. Even if you try to wipe out your harddrive, it'll be too late. They will have already collected all the evidence they need to prosecute. Download at your own risk.

by using downloading them you're digitally stealing the songs so the fault is on you (much greater so because of the fact that by using agreeing to the limewire person settlement you assert you will not use it for downloading copyrighted textile) and limewire is at no fault in view that's a p2p application so as that they at the instant are not responsible for what its clientele upload and acquire. as for identifying to purchase caught: obtainable yet impossible. as long as you at the instant are not sharing a ton of songs you could proceed to be below the radar
