I do not have the sources to back up my claim on hand right now... but I am sure most will agree that president Bush never says the word Muslim without adding Extremist or Fundamentalist. The average American does not know what the hell a fundamentalist is and therefore applies the term to all Muslims. Why do we never hear of the Christian Extremists in D.C. who echo Ayatollah Khomenei's statement, " We answer to a higher law, God's law"- this was the exact statement after the 1979 Iranian revolution and was the EXACT statement Senator Rick Santorum has repeated over and over again (among other members of the Christian Fundamentalist/ Extermist seeking to establish an exclusionary Theocracy in the U.S.) People wonder why I reject all organized religion!

What conceptions are you talking about? The govement does not want problems between different religous beliefs. They do not want nor could they afford a holy war. We have Islamic people in our goverment. Do you think they would not know if the colleagues were encouraging misconceptions. Would love to debate with you about this, but you have to be more specific.

Well, it certainly does not DIScourage it! Right now, it's politically expedient to demonize Muslims, though Muslims don't help their image in the eyes of the world through acts of terrorism. Unfortunately, one such act tends to overshadow a thousand good deeds. That's true whether that act is committed by a Muslim, a Christian, a Jew, or whomever. In an ideal world, we'd all happily learn enough about each other to get along - but this ain't an ideal world and probably never will be. Pity, isn't it?

USA Government will never do that. It is ill informed persons in media who have coined terms. It is never advisable to give publicity to terrorist. This publicity is oxygen for them. By giving them publicity they work against national interest of their own countries.

I don't know about that, but our government, society and educational system don't help the situation. We don't tend to get much fair and unbiased explanation about what other cultures and religions are all about.
