One analogy is weight lifting. The more weight one tries to lift the heavier it is and hence, more resistance. Hope this helps.

Resistance will resist the flow of current,and must be able to dissipate the wattage . The wattage is the voltage drop across a resistor times the current in amps.

Resistance is the tendency for a material to oppose the flow of electrons. like in a wire, resistance causes it to get hot.
