I miscarried about 3-4 weeks ago. I went to the emergency room because the pain was so bad when I started to pass it. After a treacherous 4 hours they prescribed me vicodin for the pain and some other long name for I had a UTI.
I wasn't supposed to have sex for 2 weeks because of the UTI. & for 3 weeks because of the miscarriage.

But, it happened about a week after most of the bleeding had stopped. The few days after intercourse I was only spotting. Now I should have been about 11 weeks pregnant but ultrasounds showed the baby died at around 6 weeks. So shouldnt the HCG levels been going down since it died?
Why would pregnancy tests be still showing up as positive 3 weeks after the passing of the tissues and apx 6 weeks after the baby's death?

Also, 2 days after the ER visit (they said i had passed everything) something VERY large passed - resembled a body organ. Looked like something of flesh covered in blood -like a sack. Was that my placenta?

for any serious help, Thank you!!!!

There is always a possibility. Someone I know had a miscarrage and had sex a week or so later and 7 weeks later was pregnant and had the baby. She thoght maybe she got pregnant again or had twins and lost one but not the other. Just hang in there and see. Take a test if you don't get your period or feel any other symptoms. Sorry for your loss and good luck.

PS- I have medicaid and I think there is a thing such as Emergency medicaid. Maybe you can check into that. If you qualify you will be covered immediately.

If you were 11 weeks pregnant or less when you had the miscarriage it was not the placenta! It was probably coagulated blood. The inner lining of the uterus thickens when you get pregnant and after you miscarried the body needs to get rid of this extra material! I hope you are alright now!

I am not certain as to why you are getting + results still, but that very large item you passed was indeed the placenta and the baby. The baby would have been inside a very tough sac. I recently saw photos (not by my own choice but on accident) of a misscarriage, almost exactally in line with your dates.

I am so very sorry for your loss.

the HCG level can remain high for up to 6-8 weeks after a miscarriage, which misleads a pregnancy test into thinking that your still pregnant...leave it a few more weeks and then re-take it

Did you ask the doctor was it the placenta? Well you may be pregnant again the best thing would be to go to the doctor and let them know whats going on.
