IU have a Dell Dimension 3000 P4 3.0 ghz with 1 gig of RAM.
I'd like to upgrade to 2 gig of ram. It seems like all I can find is 2 gig at 2x1024. I'd rather have just a 2 gig stick in case I want to upgrade it. Will 2 gig or 4 gig even work in this machine? Many thanks!
Chris

u can get 2G ddr2 kingston.but it'l rip u off RS.24000-34000. its not worth that upgrade.

p4 is already done with. buy a new processor and a new mother board that has atleast 4 slots(the new ones support upto 16GB upgrade!!) you can wait a while and upgrade the whole comp for the money u spend on ram rite nw.

even if u upgrade now,it wont be worth wat u spend since yor mobo and processor are old. 1GB is more than enough even if your comp is runnin on vista!

neglect all above if u r not plannin 2 upgrade d comp for next 10 yrs.

Many motherboards nowadays are coming with 4 DDR RAM slots, try to find the specs for your motherboard, or look at it. Chances are that Dell may have been evil and stuck 2 512 Mb sticks in it to give you 1Gb.

But if you do have space to upgrade, head to http://www.newegg.com and get some Ram from there, that's a good place to start.

The most you can put in the computer is 2 Gig
You have two slot that will only hold 1 Gig each which is 2 Gig
beside two Ram(s) runs faster than 1 they process info at the same time.

it really is common for 32-bit variations of abode windows personal computer operating platforms. you may lose everywhere from 256MB to 1GB because of the opt to order handle area for memory-mapped I/O contraptions. A sixty 4-bit version of abode windows received't have this problem, or a 32-bit version of abode windows that helps PAE (actual handle extension) once you commence the computing device, the BIOS might want to correctly locate all 4GB or RAM.

Very doubtful. Look up the specs for your computer at dell.com and see what they say. I highly doubt it tho, U got a Dell. :P
And for 4 gigs, I don't think you can at all.
