Is my goldfish sick??

Question

I've had my goldfish for about four months. The tips of it's fins and tail is turning black. It's spread out pretty evenly amongst the fish. What is happening???

No no it isn't ich. Ich is WHITE SPOTS.
Is it just a colouration to the fins? If so, your goldfish may just be changing colours. That does happen.
However, if the fins look frayed, rotten, torn, etc, it may be rinrot or an injury. If so, treat with Maracyn-2 and maintain pristine water conditions.

Although it is totally normal for a goldfish to change colors black isn't normally one of them. The main cause for that is usually ammonia burns, which means the fish was is high amounts of ammonia and burnt the fish and now those burns are healing. If your tank isn't cycled it is probably in the nitrite stage which is just as deadly as ammonia, test your water and make sure your nitrite isn't too high. In a cycled tank the ammonia and nitrite should be zero and the nitrate should be around 20.

I had a goldfish and the same thing happened to it. Don't worry he's fine. He's just getting older. Eventually the black will most likely go away in a few weeks or months. Sometimes they don't loose it but usually they change back to their normal color.

There is a possiblity that you have in you tank what is called ick. They have drops you buy at the store to take care of it.
