A good topic for a critique of the Screwtape Letters is to make it clear that you see the humor and satire in the book. Make a point of pointing out the irony in the correspondence of Wormwood. For good background on this take a look at:

The Screwtape Letters isn't half as good as the Narnia books, but it is still brilliant and very funny! I don't agree with CS Lewis' take on the world, but I love to read him.

An epistolatory novel is one in which the story is told mostly or completely by letters. So, the Screwtape Letters falls into this category. For your paper, how about exploring the power and limitations of such novels using the Screwtape Letters as an example.

Look for the essay "Screwtape proposes a toast" it is an after thought to the screwtape letters and I think you could use the notion of Democracy to work with on the screwtape letters. Good luck!

He wrote another book called "The Great Divorce" which is also excellent, you should read it as well.
