This is the argument of hieristics (i think that's how you spell it), which is just a fancy name for historical analogies. Many world leaders use incidents from their own past when trying to make decisions. Bush Sr. has used this analogy when going to war with Iraq the first time. Bush Jr. could not have had this in mind, nor could he use it as a credible excuse, because he was never in WWII

I think he had the WTC in mind.
I don't think GWB was afraid of being judged as an appeaser. I think he was afraid that Iraq was going to keep either inciting and aiding groups like al queda and hezbollah.
Iraq was not the only country we targeted.
People forget that the US went into Afghanistan as well, and that the Afghanis responded by self-governing and fighting right alongside our troops.

No, he knew that it was the right thing to do and that he WOULD be judged by history as an appeaser.
History is repeating itself with such continuity it's scary.
Iran is spouting anti-semitic rhetoric and threatening to take over the world.
Nobody is taking him seriously and is just trying to appease him.
A lone voice (Bush) is warning everyone to take him seriously and not to appease him.
Nobody is listening. Instead they think we should "talk" to Iran with a "support group".
What's next? Is it going to take ANOTHER "Pearl Harbor" to get us to wake up? Is it going to take nuclear terrorism to finally unite us against Iran?

Absolutely not! He is not that educated to even think beyond his own needs. that is why in crisis he sits and blinks. He did that on 911 and he did that during Katrina. He was totally fixated on weapons of mass destruction only. He was not prepared to rebuild, to establish government or even prepared to spread democracy.
