Depends on what the dems do with their power in congress. If they are ineffective, you bet that the American People will throw them right out of office and give the repubs another chance.

So far, this is not considered by the political punditocracy as a left-right shift. The new Democrat class is largely moderate Democrats who replaced Republicans that were as or more liberal. This was also a protest against the Neo-conservatives who have hijacked the GOP from real conservatives and turned the party into a free spending, big government party. If the GOP purges them over the next two years and re-embraces its conservative platform they have a good chance of regaining majority status.

the shifting is due to inadequacies during each party's short reign. a conservative does a bad job, so we vote democratic. then we arent pleased with his results, so its back to the republicans. its a never ending cycle, and i agree that our next president will be democratic.

but repubs arent dead for a "long long time". in 6 years another one will probably get elected president, and we have one right now for the next 2 years.

i say we put an end to this nonsense. everyone should vote green party! cmon nader for prez guys!

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, everyone I know knew that Bush would loose in 2004. Everyone hated him. Yet here we are. Don't think the Republicans won't be working their tails off, You Democrats had better get your ducks in a row, and field a candidate with a clear plan, or you're going to find your statistics in error.
