You couldn't have said it better. It's very sad to see what young woman (black, white, hispanics, etc) (and older ones) today are willing to do for money. Unfortunately, some people are willing to sell their self respect and dignity for a couple of dollars.
We need to start teaching our daughters, sisters, nieces, granddaughters, etc. to love and respect themselves. We need to empower today's young girls with the knowledge that they are MORE than just a pair of boobs and a booty.

Honestly I don't watch music videos. Back in the day when I did rap was just starting to be a force in the music industry so there were still a lot of white hard rock bands that portrayed white women as sex objects. I think maybe with the success of rap music maybe the videos are more diversified. But it's still the same women are sex objects that some guy is using for what he needs and throwing away. I don't believe a word of it. No woman is just a sex object and if they are there is a serious problem. I think most women black white or any other color respect themselves and the rest of us and ignore the media image. My daughters are taught that they are equal with men, they are taught to be independent and strong. They are told they are smart and beautiful (which they are). Hopefully as they get older they choose to believe their father and I about what a women is and ignore the media.

Black women are portrayed as sex objects in music videos because they allow themselves to be portrayed that way. The girls who audition for these videos have no shame and only think about the attention that they think they will get. They don't think about how they are objectifying all of us. And the performers who portray women in this manner in their videos have no respect for any women. The best way to send a message that this is unacceptable is to stop supporting ($$) the artists who's videos you find offensive. Don't buy their cd's or any products that they endorse.

Its not just black women. It is everyone in all of the videos including the men.
People think that that is all there is in life and they show themselves living the big life and flashing cash and *ss
Truth be known, the women are just as guilty as the men making the videos. Women nowdays dont even want to date a man unless he has six pack abs and looks like he doesnt have a ounce of body fat on him. Dont blame the men. Blame the society in general including the women. They are as much to blame as the men.

I've seen this same subject covered as a series in Essence magazine a few years back. It will continue to happen as long as women willingly participate in this. It really is about all the (easy) money and for some of them the perceived fame. You really should look for those back issues - it was at least a year, probably two years ago.

Because that's how some women feel about them self's. They feel if they do that then they will come up in the world of music videos. Also some do it for a living.

First off, It is a little selfish to think just BLACK women are portrayed as sex objects in videos. Besides, All women are portrayed as sex objects. It is visual prostitution.

Because black men are the ones driving the videos.
It's part of the music/rap culture...and when black women allow themselves to be a part of this...they are just as much as screwed up as the people who push this culture to society.

Its part of the Cycle of the oldest profession on earth. Prostitution. Its an issue of money, greed, and self worth. Its a cycle that can't be broken. You don't have to support it, and you can educate as many people as you can. But it will probably never change anything. Bummer :(

It's not just black women. It's women in general, and it goes back as far as music videos go. Madonna is white and her whole career is based on sex. It just depends on what station you're watching. Click on CMT and you'll see plenty of white women shaking their "money makers". Basically, SEX SELLS.
