If a tenant has no lease can I evict him/her for any reason? Can I confiscate property left in the house?

No, you cannot, and generally, no you cannot. You need to get an attorney familiar with landlord/tenant disputes and go from there. You cannot just change the locks, they are under no obligation to pay you for damage incurred (broken window, broken door frame, etc) for entering if you change the locks, especially if there are "squatter laws" in your state. An eviction is a court order, you will need to speak with the clerk of the courts in your area, otherwise you can be sued for illegal eviction.

What you should call them is an "uninvited guest".
Your best bet is to threaten to change the locks and lock them out. If they don't mend their ways. Carry out your threat.
Under no circumstances can you retain their property without a prior written agreement.
Upon kicking them out, you must put their property on the curb.
Give them notice that this action will occur when you threaten to change the locks.

It is called "Tenancy at will" These people have rights too. Before you do anything check with your lawyer.

no, you have to go to court it takes about 6 mos. to get them out. good luck
