You obviously aren't a teacher. American youth are constantly questioning authority. They live in a day and age where they have instant access to information, appropriate or not. Unfortunately, they are being raised in a 'victim and entitlement' age, and few know how to hold themselves accountable for their actions or take personal responsibility seriously. Maybe they are 'brainlessly obedient' as you say because everything is handed to them and they don't have to earn it.

Which American Youth are you referring to? The ones in my area are active in their communities, and certainly do question authority. They are somewhat rebellious, but most are still respectful. While some have their heads too far into video games and reality trash TV, some do wonderful things like volunteering at community centers and senior centers.
Most are not brainless, and if you would ask their parents, they are likely not obedient either. But they are good kids, doing the best they can. Your brainless generalization does not give them the credit that they are due.

It's called freedom of Choice, Frieda, and young people everywhere are practicing it. Questioning Authority does not only mean Opposing Authority. Why don't you get a clue?
Oh, and by the way, it is spelled "happened". There is a spell checker, conveniently located above and to the RIGHT of your moronic question Box. Use it, silly, simple-minded twit.

Laws regarding political correctness and no praying in schools, etc. Isn't it strange that all the laws against freedom of speech in our schools and neighborhoods can be enforced, but the laws on hiring, harboring and helping illegal aliens can't? Why is it that Hispanics can have groups to promote Hispanics and Latinos in the media and Latino Caucuses and Blacks can have Black Caucuses but White people cannot have White Caucuses without being labeled as racist? If parents are afraid to stand up and be counted and they won't stand up for their kids when they speak out and if the laws are only enforced against American Citizens and the poor and middle class who pay for them, how can any of us expect equal treatment? If we don't vote, even writing in none of the above when we don't like the candidates, how can we have change? We are absolutely and unequivocally headed toward a violent revolution but our government seems totally oblivious to that fact.

WHAT!? I don't know where you live or what "youth" you are referring to. Please tell me so I can move there with my "youths" - they didn't get the "brainlessly obedient" memo, more like brainlessly disobedient!

Don't know what planet you've been living on but all I see and hear is young people (not all) with a sense of entitlement, talking back when they specifically need to listen and not only questioning authority but pulling guns and shooting at authority.

well back in the 70s when i was in my 20s a lot of people were still angry about the war and racism, so there was more motivation to argue with police. it was the thing to do.
people still question authority in school and the police, but its not as common in the modern world. i have no problem with authority, but it does piss me off when i get fed b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t when im pulled over or in a convience store.

Their parents started pampering and spoiling them to make up for all the "lost time" that they were missing with their kids, so they have no need to rebel now.
It hurts me to say, but I'm sure Oprah had something to do with this.
