I am buying my father a set of screwdrivers for Christmas. I own a fair number of Craftsman hand tools. My dad tends to lose tools so I'm not sure if I should buy a "general" set like Craftsman or spend the extra money for professional grade screwdrivers (Snap-On, SK). Any thoughts?

Don't go with the professional grade, he'll probably lose them too. Get a "general" set that has an imprented spot for each screwdriver. This way when he goes to leave a job site or anything he will make sure he has the whole set together. They have quite a few nice little tool "kits" that would probably work great. You can get some private label brands from any hardware store large or small that are pretty good price. They usually have a "pro" grade that are fairly nice and have cushioned handles. Check them out.

If your dad tends to lose tools, it wouldn't be a good idea to spend extra money on the pro-grade tools, and unless he's in the trades, he doesn't really need them.
The Craftsman tools are nice, but also more expensive than other tools (like Stanley) that are also guaranteed for life. Other brands like Husky, Tool Shop, and Kobalt are also cheaper than Snap-On and are still quality tools. With the money you save, you can buy him a bigger set of tools maybe and it will take him longer to lose all of them.

A rechargable battery screw driver with some bits would be a nice gift. Buy him a good brand. I buy my tools from Home Depot and Sears craftsman.

Get the general set. Craftsman stuff is very good, but not so pricey you get sick to your stomach when you loose one!
Plus...they break, you get a new one, no questions asked.

Go to Home Depot and get him a set of cheaper USA made ones like Husky or something. Still a great warranty on them and a LOT less expensive.

Get him the Craftsman set... they are just as good as the higher priced ones...might even be better... cost is lower... replacement is much easier. and their made in the USA... :)

you need to buy a left handed screw driver at home depot there down the tool isle next to the wire stretcher

Get him professional ones and try and tie them to the box like with good rope or something that way he'll have less of a chance of losing them...
