When I was 16 & a Jr. in H.S.;I broke my ankle during a JV football game.It was a schoolday afternoon.Emergency room determined that I had a spiral fracture of the tibia & said I would need surgery to "shorten it" & put in a thigh high cast.(It scared me when they said shorten it,cause I thought they were going to shorten my leg.)
I had to stay overnight & I was in a room for 2,but I was the only patient. After visiting hours, an intern -looking guy came in & said he was sent there by the office to do a Pre-Op. He closed the curtain around us.He had a clipboard & asked alot of ques. bout the injury. Then started to perform a physical. He did the usual BP;listened to chest, etc. Then he palpated my torso @ the time was in great shape.(couldn't pinch my abs)Then he removed my briefs.& put his finger up my groin & felt around my privates. He had me turn over.THEN came the anal/prostate exam. After he finished,he turned me over.I was erect,he had strange look of triumph. Was I abused?Hosp. SOP?

This happened 20 years ago.I would have never thought about it,cept for all the publicity 'bout child molesters.Especially those in position of "assumed" authority. That smirk he had on his face after he saw my aroused state is what sticks in my mind.
Back then, I don't think I even knew about gay men predators or child abuse & I had been an altar boy!!

STINGME-said he needed to check prostate because it could affect anesthesia JMILLER-I wasn't admitted 'til 4:00p.m.& surgery was sched for early next morn.
I know NOW that this wasn't a real prostate exam, but just a way this jerk could penetrate me.If he had opened his pants, then I would've known. He was there for almost an hour.He talked about my sports & made me relax. He complemented me on my muscles. He didn't seem nervous at all.He told me you can't wear anything but johnnie for surgery & was why he removed them.
When he did the exam he had me get into a knee/chest position. What a view he must've had!He also palpated my genitals while kneading the prostate."To make sure all is working O.K."At the end, when he flipped me over,I was semi-erect & had moisture @ the tip which he wiped off w/a swab.He told me I was in great condition & all should go O.K. w/operation.
I also should have reacted in the morning, when a nurse came in to give a shot & seemed surprised that I had no shorts on.

There are two things to consider. I think you were. It could have been a person working at the hosbital, who took advantage of young patients who did not go to medical school and it could have been some sexual predator who walked off the street, got into some scrubs and saw that you were alone and then took advantage of you. I know the lattter may sound impossible, but I think you should have reported it or talked to someone incharge to find out if this is part of procedure. You may have not been his only victim and if he is some dude walking in the hosbital off the street, they can watch for him. Sorry, but I was sexually abused and predators are out there, i am very caustious, I have two kids. One has already been molested by a ten year old, A TEN YEAR OLD!

Whatever he wrote at the clip board will have to be to your scientific list. Go take a appear at it. If there's a pre-op factor in there learn it. From sounds of the damage it'll of been particularly average. You had been being tested across the subject wherein different matters would possibly of been damaged. I could keep a copy of that pre-op web page and feature one more medical professional provide an explanation for to you why you had been tested like that. If the pre-op web page is lacking and so they cannot provide an explanation for it good you can also of been field to whatever different then typical scientific pratice. Many occasions men will enjoy an erection whether or not they supposed to have one or no longer. The individual inspecting you can also of been surprised or embarrsed by way of it. Most scientific areas may have one more individual within the room while they're inspecting you in any such manner. I could discover out that hospices coverage.

Coming from experience working in a hospital, what this guy did to you was uncalled for and totally inappropriate. Yes it is against SOP, and an interim should never condust a physical exam without another physician or nurse present. Do you remember this persons name? Also, how long ago did it happen? I would report this to the hospital at once, and maybe even alert the proper authorities.

A rectal exam is not indicated in a 16 year old with no symptoms, ie rectal bleeding. As far as a prostate exam, it is not done until a patient is 50 years old. Did he tell you why he needed to be so thorough? If you have any concerns about him, you can call your state's medical board and report his actions.

That type of exam is contraindicated by the type of injury. You were way too young to have had a prostate exam. If this story is true. I believe you were abused. You a can sue.

LOL...sorry couldn't read that with a straight face but I don't necessarily believed you were abused..however, i do feel that it was quite odd to have a prostate exam for your age..most men have theirs done in the late 30's early 40's.

Sounds like it to me. Seems like an excessive amount of anal and groin touching for a broken ankle. Too bad you didn't report it earlier in life.

It sounds like it. Physical exams are done in the daytime, generally in the morning, before visiting hours.
