It's not bad luck to be superstitious, it's just putting yourself through unnecessary stress about something that probably will not happen.

Superstition is like some "spells." It only works if the person or people involved believe in that kind of stuff. Superstition itself arose because humans are afraid of the unknown. A man happened to walk under a ladder and then happened to die from illness. Bad luck, walking under the ladder caused it, they'd say. But in reality lots of people died back then and walking under the ladder wasn't necessarily the reason why the man died. Unless he got hit on the head with a hammer. Superstitions were put in place as a sort of law to protect the people from what the higher ups THOUGHT was causing deaths.

The whole, a black cat crossing your path, bit is based mainly on the fact that it was thought black cats were familiars of witches. Black cat crosses your path, a witch knows you exist, or it was thought that that meant the witch had laid a curse on you.

Superstitions were made to protect the people, and walking under a ladder is still bad luck especially if someone is up there 'cause they might drop something on your head, but in today's world and with "modern" society many of them seem silly to us because many know, or think, that the old superstitions are not true. We probably have new superstitions, like stopping at a yellow light is bad luck or some garble like that, that will be twice as ridiculous a thousand years from now.

Luck only exists for people who believe in superstitions so it could be bad luck or good luck. If you don't believe, then it can't be any kind of luck!

If you believe in luck, then it is kind of a moot point, isn't it? You are already superstitious to a degree and should already know things turned out for you.

believing in superstition causes stress and upset
stress and upset mean you may pay less attention to your surroundings
if you pay less attention to day-to-day life, you could miss out on opportunities and be more prone to being scammed. less confident people are seen as easier targets for all sorts of bad people.

so, yes, it is a self-fullfilling prophecy....if you are superstitious, you are more likely to be unlucky

It depends on how superstitious you are, if you believe in it then your life will become stressful looking for them or even acknowledging them.

Leave it alone it is a dark side not worth worrying over it.
