I have both -If that's not affordable, go with the Tivo - You can record movies or shows and watch when you have time. The best thing about Tivo is the ablity to pause and back up in the middle of a show. How many times have you been watching something, the charactrr is saying something important and then the dog barks, or the telephone rings, or grandma drops by? Hit "pause" and pick up where you left off when the disturbance ends.
I'm a little hard of hearing and sometimes I miss dialog. Simply back up and play it again.

I use a HD/ High Definition Cable system!
Great for recording stuff whilst you are out!!
There are some Great deals out there for cable!(TIME WARNER)
I also use a DVD/HD Recorder to Save Movies and shows on to!
