Again, do they really deserve it? Wouldn't you think that their present pay, plus all of the bribes and perks they receive, would be enough? And also remember they have a special retirement program, not social security like most of the rest of us are required by law to have.

They don't deserve it, but that's what happens when they decide what they get paid. It is a serious flaw in our system, and is costing our country a lot.

Do they deserve a raise??? Only if they agree to start paying into the Social Security system and stop taking those big pensions when they retire, and by the way, even though they don't pay into the SS system they still get to draw against it, on top of their pensions, when they retire. They also have to agree to give up some of the other percs like, lobbyist paid vacations, luxury cars, huge expense reports, 2-3 secretaries. The list is endless, do they deserve it, hell no, not until they start paying taxes and SS like the rest of us do.

Actually, their actual pay is not much compared to what a lot of Americans get.

But, as you mentioned, they don't have to worry about some of the costs. Not all of them take bribes, either.

but they should get their pay raise. After all, this next congress will be raising the minimum wage.

And yet they haven't raised the minimum wage since 1997.

I think if we are going to have a minimum wage we should
put a salary cap on congress until the minimum wage is boosted
again. That will keep both in check!

It's not a matter of "do they deserve it" it's a matter of the more
they make the less likely they are to be corrupt.

Thank you very much, while you're up!!!
