You are obviously smarter than the divisive questions you ask.
The vast majority of liberals support the war on terror. I don't know any who are "backing the enemy". I have yet to hear a single liberal say the war in Afghanistan was a bad idea. I have yet to hear a single liberal say they are happy OBL is still at large. The problem is that people love to blur the line between "the war on terror" and the war in Iraq. Iraq was not a part of the war on terror until we made it so.
The people I feel sorry for are the 500,000 dead Iraqis and the troops we sent into the war based on faulty intelligence and without a plan to win the peace.
Why, if we are so adamant about winning the war on terror, are we not focusing on attacking the terrorists? They are the enemy. Troop levels in Iraq are 10X higher than they are in Afghanistan. That should tell you something about the priorities of this administration...

Okay, this question is full of so many embedded assumptions that it's nearly impossible to pull it apart. First, the thought that "liberals" "back" the "enemy" assumes that there is a monolith called "liberals". People who are left of center have a wide variety of views. Arab-Americans living in Dearborn and Jewish-Americans living in Scarsdale may both be "liberal", but have widely differing reasons for believing that the present war in Iraq is a mistake. Neither of them "back" the "enemy" in the sense that they would like to see America defeated, or think that the groups attacking American forces in Iraq have any redeeming qualities. As far as the "enemy", there are so many atomized forces at work in Iraq, it is impossible to pick one "enemy". Is the enemy the Sunni insurgency which has not been reconciled to losing control of the country? How about the Shi'ite militias aligned with Sadr? Or the Badr Brigade? All totally different. All happy to kill Americans for their own purposes.
It may be that some liberals feel that continued occupation of a country that is falling into anarchy will not produce desirable results. That is a completely different set of emotions than "feeling sorry for a terrorist".
As for the troops, it is quite possible that some of the troops are unhappy that support for the war at home has waned. No one likes fighting in a war that lacks broad public support. This ignores two things: (1) even "liberals" are very supportive of the troops themselves, if not the policy; and (2) it may be that the best support we can offer our troops is to pull them out of harms way when there is little point in their being exposed to danger.
So, please, go on and hate a liberal. It's so much easier than thinking.

No. I'm a Soldier and a liberal. I'm insulted by you and your assertions. You should be ashamed. I believe in this country - in its entirety. The most disheartening thing while overseas to me was the senseless division between the people of this country, and using "support for the troops," as a wedge to divide people. If you are concerned about the brave men and women that weren't afraid to serve their country, I urge you to write to your congressman to ensure that every possible measure to enhance Soldier survival (body armor, up-armored HMMWVs and other items) are fully-funded. Save the money you spend on yellow magnets and give it to charity. Take your hateful attitude and inflammatory language and keep it to yourself. That's a nice as I can put it. Have a nice day.

Pray do tell how you figure that the librals back terrorist? I know that the republican party can claim capturing Ben Ladin .... oops no that's saddam they have. Where is Ben Ladin the terrorist responible for 9/11? Hiding out with his family that The Republican President Bush Ushered out in the middle of the night?
So who be it that backs the Enemy? Think think hard on this one. And yes you can point out that Ben Ladin attacked while under Clintons Rule. However before you do that think under who's Rule Ben Ladin was trained. It' seems that the Republican leaders know where to find these terrorist and their families.
So who backs the terrorist party?

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (a self-described "liberal") has said that the Democrats will vote to support the $160 billion appropriation for the war in Iraq.
In light of this how can you contend that liberals are backing the enemy?

You couldn't possibly know how another person feels unless they told you.
Try providing a source of 'liberals backing terrorists' if you're going to post such a statement.
You'll look less like a Richard Cranium.

I am a troop and a liberal. The war in Iraq was a mistake. I have no problem defending my country, but invading Iraq does not fall into that category. This is my opinion and I am glad that I am allowed to have it, and I am willing to fight for this right. I am also glad that people can disagree with me, and I will fight for that as well.
Support the troops, they don't make the decisions of who to fight, they just do.

What the troops are hearing is not what the liberal are saying. What they are hearing is what the right SAYS the liberals are saying which has nothing to do with the truth. Who then would be responsible for discouraging the troops?

One of the answers calling Hamilton a Conservative when he has been a liberal Democrat all his life, shows the uninformed drivel coming from liberals!! The Liberals are, on a daily basis, encouraging the Terrorists to kill more Americans, that is one reason that the majority of our Military vote Republican!!
