how could u even have considered the toshiba with the t5500 processor, when u configured out a dell with the t7200 !
difference is not merely clock speed 1.66 ghz v/s 2.0 ghz., real difference is l2 cache being an awesome 4 mb in the t7200 v/s 2 mb in the t5500
processor t7200 is a huge difference over t5500
toshiba has better graphics, but the dell ought to nullify it 2 a great extant with the t7200 processor !
stick to the dell !
however if i were 2 configure, the 6 cell batteries are too small for a 17", 9 cell should be about right

With no offense at all, it's a pretty narrowly, personalized issue.
What works for me, may not, for you?
Statistically Toshiba has never been a major player, yet keeps it's head above water, so to speak.
I know the Dell company, and have met the Man, but consider this. Everything but distribution, in the context of PS's and laptops, is produced by a culture thousands of years old, and in many ways still lives in an era as old.
The "brand name" is truly an insignificant issue, other than HYPE in advertising, and again, a very personal choice.

They are pretty much the same to me, but I would personally go with the Toshiba because I just really have not had great experience with a dell system

I'd go for the Toshiba Satellite. Mainly because of the Hard drive, but if you don't think you'd use all the memory, it won't make a difference. There aren't really too many differences, both have a nice spec.
